Life of a Teacher

Well, life is different now that I'm a teacher.  It is more stressful, I'm much more tired at the end of the day, and I feel like I'm constantly working.  I go to sleep and dream about my lesson plans and about my kids.  I wake up still tired.

Today was the first day I left school really feeling good about the day.  I felt like I got a lot accomplished, like my kids ALL learned at least something, and that I saw progress.  It feels good to be able to say that.

Special Education is hard, but their smiles are priceless.  When they reach for your hand to hold in the halls, your heart melts.  When you see a light bulb finally go off in their head, you feel accomplished.  And when you are caring for their needs, you are showing them Christ's love.

It is a humbling job.  It isn't glamorous.  It is hard.  I'm learning, working, and becoming.  Do I always enjoy it?  Not yet.  But I'm learning to appreciate the small and love my kids- and that is what is important.
